Why did you become a optometrist?

My father is the closest person I know with Amerlia, or easier known has having only one arm. I would hear stories from family about how he grew up not only with a physical handicap, but in a culture with a stigmatic handicap as being an outcast, or “cursed” because of his deformity. He had to overcome so much, and never used any of it an an excuse to accomplish and provide my family and I with more than I ever needed. Obstacles and barriers are an unfortunate reality for so many. Through him, I knew early on that I wanted to help others in some way, but only found later on that a great fit for me was vision, as I had first hand experienced how much glasses changed my life. The combination of the two would lead to a professional career in Optometry where I am grateful each day being able to be a part of such meaningful treatment, and be one part of many that helps kids grow to their fullest potential.
