How can we help?

Day of Surgery

  • Child should not brush their teeth.
  • No bath or shower.
  • Patient cannot go to school or day care the day of the appointment.
  • Parents do not go to work or schedule other appointments the day of surgery so they can attend to their child.
  • Additional adult/older teenager is encouraged to come day of the appointment. help attend to the child on the ride home while the other is providing transportation.
  • We ask that public transportation not be utilized on the day of the surgery. If needed, please reach out to our staff and we may assist with alternative transportation.
  • Jewelry should not be worn on the day of surgery. Fingernails and toenails free of polish.
  • Please have your child wear comfortable, loose clothing, no covered footed PJs. Extra undergarments and/or diapers is encouraged.
  • You may bring their favorite toy or blanket.
  • You will be asked to arrive early to confirm the availability of all necessary information for you child prior to the procedure. The anesthesia provider will do the pre-operative assessment and will go over the anesthesia consent.
  • Please keep in mind that your child will be under anesethsia and as with any procedure, the appointment before you may last longer or end sooner than anticipated. Having you and your child in our facility at the recommended time by our staff ensures you and your child have a better experience.
  • The dental provider will confirm with you the dental treatment plan and will discuss any changes with you.
  • You will not be allowed to stay in the room during surgery. This is for the safety of your child and our team throughout the procedure.
  • A parent/legal guardian must be present and remain in office day of surgery and in case of an emergency until the child is discharged.
