Farsightedness

Come Close – We have to Tell You Something

Farsightedness, also known as Hyperopia, is another common condition where you can see objects that are far away better than objects up close. When a child has farsightedness, the light rays in their eyes will focus behind the retina’s surface instead of directly on it, making close-up objects blurry. Due to children’s eyes not yet being developed, farsightedness is common, and as their eyes mature, may go away. However, if this doesn’t occur, early detection and correction is incredibly important to their well-being.

Symptoms of farsightedness include

  • Blurred vision
  • Trouble focusing on nearby objects
  • Eye strain
  • Eye fatigue
  • Headaches when performing close-up tasks.

Not only does farsightedness have physical impacts, but also school performance, including reading skills, can impact educational success and self-esteem. Farsightedness is easily corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses, or eye surgery.
